🧵 Beginner Patchwork & Quilting Course

Would you like to discover patchwork and start creating your own fabric project? Over five 2-hour sessions, you will gradually learn the essential basics of patchwork, from preparing your fabrics to piecing and exploring the different finishing techniques.

🔹 Prerequisites

To participate in this course, you should:

• know how to use a sewing machine;
• be comfortable with basic sewing techniques.

📅 Format

• 5 sessions of 2 hours each (10 hours total)

This small-group format allows you to receive personalized guidance throughout the course.

🧵 Materials

Fabric is not included in the course price.

The fabrics used for the project must be 100% cotton. Before the course begins, you will receive information about the required fabrics, quantities, and supplies.

The following equipment is available in the studio:

• sewing machines;
• cutting table;
• iron;
• scissors;
• pins;
• fabric marking tools;
• rulers;
• seam rippers;
• basic sewing thread.

However, for hygiene and safety reasons, we recommend bringing your own sewing tools whenever possible. This also allows you to work with the tools you are familiar with and become more comfortable using them throughout your project.

• 🧵 What You Will Learn

  Throughout the five sessions, you will gradually learn about:

  • the principles and terminology of patchwork;
  • choosing and preparing fabrics;
  • grainline, seam allowances, and accuracy;
  • techniques for cutting fabric pieces;
  • assembling quilt blocks using a sewing machine;
  • techniques for creating accurate seams;
  • selected hand-sewing techniques;
  • assembling the different parts of your project;
  • the basics of quilting and finishing techniques.

Each session will give you the opportunity to put what you have learned into practice and progress at your own pace.

🎨 A Project to Put Your Skills into Practice

Throughout the five sessions, you will gradually work on a patchwork project. The project will serve as a practical way to apply the different techniques introduced during the course.

However, the amount of time spent on each step may vary depending on the needs, questions, and pace of the group. You are therefore not expected to complete the project by the end of the five sessions.

The main goal is to build a solid foundation, understand the different stages of a patchwork project, and develop good sewing techniques, so that you can continue creating your own projects independently.

👥 A Small Group for Personalized Guidance

Finally, to provide personalized instruction and allow enough time to answer each participant’s questions, class size is limited to 5 participants.
